PostSubject: Hi I am Rachel   Tue Feb 03, 2009 1:49 pm

Hi Everyone,

I have a son Joshua who is 9 years old, has ASD and ODD which has only been diagnosed last year and is very challanging. My husband and I knew that something wasn't quite right when he started nursery, he would hit children and staff for no reason, throw things in anger, play the same games over and over. He was expelled from primary school in July and we are still waiting for the LEA to provide a school for him. We are having to appeal his statement as they are not providing any school for him, he has no friends and does not socialise with any other children, he is a very sad and lonely little boy. It makes me so upset and fustrated that the Government is failing to provide my son with the education he is entitled to. We are finding it impossible find any help from anywhere he is on a waiting list and has been since July 2008 to be seen by a therapist but now we are being told that we will only be able to speak to someone on the phone and Joshua would possibly be seen upon review once a year, can this be the only help out there!!!

Sorry to rant but getting difficult to hold in the fustration and anger.

Rachel

Hi Anth,

The school did not have acess to a PRU so the LEA are providing 3 hours of one to one tution a day but this is not acceptable long term as he is unable to learn to cope with his social problems with children his own age.

Don't give up Rachel - I've been asking for nearly 2 years for a statement for my son and it's only cos I'm stubborn that we're getting the process started now!
